Dead Space 3

This walkthrough will provide players with the fastest route for each Act from beginning to the end. By following this guide you will be introduced to enemies as we bump into them and it will also enable you to collect and unlock all of the hidden upgrade circuits, Weapon Blueprints, Artefacts, audio/text logs and of course - the Peng Treasure that have been strewn across the ice planet of Tau Volantis and its surrounds.

For walkthroughs for each of the co-operative and optional missions that are encountered along the way, you will find links in the main walkthrough where appropriate. If you are only interested in them, you will find them in the relevant location below the guide to the campaign missions.

So without further ado, lets get started!

Prologue: "Beginnings" [ACT00]

Walkthrough:

We’ll start Dead Space 3 200 years in the past and in control of a hereto unnamed soldier. After the introductory cinematic, use the objective locator button as the on-screen tutorial tells you to. Instead of following it, turn left and run through the blizzard until you reach the wall at the end of the area. Turn right to find an ARTEFACT [ARTEFACT 1/1]. Reactivate your suit locator and follow it until the air clears up a little and you are on a ledge overlooking a large building below.

At this point, the game will pop up an in-game tutorial and tell you how to run. Let’s try it out! Follow the ledge around the corner to the left and you will find the wreckage of a ship. Follow the on-screen tutorials again here to learn how to stomp and reload. Once you have reloaded, shoot the ‘Break Latch’ section on the door here. Open the door.

After the short scene, back up as you shoot the pair of wasters that emerge from the ship, these guys are fairly commonplace in Dead Space 3 and usually wield axes and other hand-held melee weapons. They are quite agile and fast on their feet, so be sure to back away from them as you fire to keep some semblance of distance (at least until we get stasis!). As with any Dead Space game, don’t forget to shoot for the limbs!

Once the two wasters are dead, enter the ship. Upon rounding the first corner another waster will crawl out from a hole at the end of the corridor, so ventilate him. Continue around to the right and you will see another trapped under the crate ahead. He will eventually escape and come to attack, so you may as well take the initiative and pop him a few times! Shooting him will summon another pair of wasters to come and attack you as well. When they are dead, climb the nearby ladder.

Interact with the blue button at the top to open the gate. Head into the cockpit and interact with the glowing blue cylinder on the control panel. This will cause a scene to play.

When you regain control, you will be rappelling down a mountainside. An on-screen button tutorial will enlighten you as to how to move and jump whilst rappelling. Continue straight down and when you reach the hole, jump to land below it. Stick to the left to move to the side of the rock sticking out from the cliff face and jump the next gap. Again, stay on the left to avoid the explosion that comes up from below and jump over one final gap for another scene.

You’ll now be sliding down an icy slope. You can roll from left to right, so do this to avoid the pieces of debris that come flying at you. After a short period of sliding a cut-scene will play to indicate completion of the prologue.

Chapter 01: "Rude Awakening" [ACT01]

Walkthrough:

Once the introduction is completed, pick up the med pack from the crate to the left and use it as indicated by the on-screen tutorial.

When you gain control of Isaac, turn to the right and note the glowing blue screen next to the bed. This is an AUDIO LOG [LOG 1/2] and there are plenty of these hidden throughout Dead Space 3.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• The Nexus has a pulsating yellow heart that is exposed after shooting its eggs.
• The Nexus has glowing bulbs around its mouth that must be shot when it attempts to suck Isaac in.
• Hive Minds have three tentacles that are their weak points.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: The Nexus attacks with massive claws (dodge) and fires red projectiles that hatch into feeders. Destroy these eggs, then shoot the exposed yellow heart.
2. Phase 2: The Nexus lowers its head and attempts to suck Isaac in. Shoot the glowing bulbs around its mouth to stop this. Repeat Phase 1 and 2 tactics until mouth tentacles are destroyed.
3. Phase 3 (Nexus Interior): After a scene, you'll be in zero gravity. Fight three Hive Minds, which are wall-mounted enemies with three tentacles each. They fire homing projectiles. Focus on one Hive Mind at a time, severing its tentacles while dodging or shooting down their projectiles.

Strategy:

• For The Nexus, prioritize dodging its claw attacks.
• Destroy the red eggs quickly to prevent feeders from spawning.
• Maximize damage on the exposed heart when available.
• When The Nexus attempts to suck you in, focus fire on the glowing bulbs around its mouth.
• For Hive Minds, try to focus on one at a time to sever its tentacles. Be aware of projectiles from other Hive Minds.
• Use the boost button to dodge or jump across gaps during the zero-gravity section.
• Use Stasis on falling debris during the rappelling section to create more time to move.
• Be prepared for tougher, blackish versions of Slashers and Waster enemies in the cave section.
• Remember to hit the button prompt that appears after defeating the Hive Minds.

• Defeating the Hive Minds earns the achievement/trophy ‘Intestinal fortitude’.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• The boss's weak points are its giant yellow eyes and a glowing blue spot on its body.
• Tentacles have orange spots that must be shot to destroy them.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Eye Attacks
   - Grab nearby markers with kinesis and launch them into the boss's giant yellow eye.
2. Phase 2: Adds and Tentacles
   - After the initial eye attack, chunks of rock will land and hatch into necromorphs. Kill them.
3. Phase 3: Tentacle Destruction
   - Giant tentacles will grab the platform. Shoot the orange spots on them to destroy them quickly.
4. Phase 4: Repeat and Advance
   - More necromorphs will appear. Kill them.
5. Phase 5: Second Eye Attack
   - A second giant eye will become visible. Grab a marker and toss it into the eye.
6. Phase 6: Repeat Cycle
   - Repeat the steps of wiping out necromorphs, destroying tentacles, and shooting markers into the eyes. This cycle needs to be completed three times.
7. Phase 7: Final Weak Point
   - After completing the cycle three times, a different scene will play. Use kinesis on the glowing blue spot on the boss's body and pull it towards you.
8. Phase 8: Game Finale
   - When you regain control, run to the raised platform nearby and hit the button prompt to finish the game.

Strategy:

• Supercharge your kinesis and stasis powers at the blue circle on the ground as soon as you regain control.
• Use super kinesis to rip arms off necromorphs.
• Prioritize destroying the tentacles quickly by shooting their orange spots.
• Be prepared for waves of necromorphs after each major boss action.
• After the third successful eye attack sequence, focus on using kinesis to pull the boss's blue weak spot towards you.
• The final step involves interacting with a raised platform to trigger the end sequence.
