Walkthrough

Understand the Just Cause 4 walkthrough structure, including mission order, region progression, and how to find specific objectives.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The Just Cause 4 walkthrough is structured to allow for both linear progression and flexible exploration in the open world.
  2. 2
Regions are unlocked using squads, which are earned by creating Chaos.
  3. 3
The guide attempts to take regions requiring the least amount of squads first to avoid mandatory grinding.
  4. 4
The walkthrough generally progresses by clearing adjacent regions after taking a main region, minimizing travel across the map.
  5. 5
However, there are instances where the guide will move to a different side of the map to vary the experience and manage perceived difficulty increases in distant regions.
  6. 6
Each sub-section typically lists required missions for a region first, followed by location-specific objectives and miscellaneous missions.
  7. 7
Main story missions are listed at the bottom of each sub-section, allowing players to focus solely on the story if desired.
Tips
  • If you want to 100% the game, follow the guide from beginning to end.
  • If you prefer to forge your own path, the guide's structure is designed for easy navigation to specific objectives.
  • To focus only on the main story, scroll to the bottom of a sub-section to find the main story mission.
  • The guide aims to keep difficulty rising steadily by progressing through regions in a manageable order.

Walkthrough (2)

Learn how to navigate Just Cause 4's open world with this guide. Discover the structure for clearing regions, tackling missions, and progressing through the story efficiently.

Hey there! So, Just Cause 4 is a massive open-world game, which means you can pretty much go anywhere and do anything you want. That makes writing a traditional walkthrough a bit tricky, but I've laid out a path through the game that should help you 100% everything if you stick with it. If you prefer to forge your own path, I've structured the guide so you can easily jump to whatever you're looking for.

After the first few chapters, you'll notice a pattern: I'll list the missions needed to unlock a region, then we'll tackle all the local objectives and side missions in that area, and finally, we'll wrap it up with a main story mission if there is one.

The mission titles are a bit different here. The main story missions are listed first in each section. So, if you're just trying to push the story forward and save the side stuff for later, just find the mission you need and scroll to the bottom of that section.

If you want to follow my exact route, I've tried to make it as smooth as possible. You'll need squads to unlock new regions, and you get those by causing Chaos. I generally go for the regions that require the fewest squads first. This way, you shouldn't have to do a ton of grinding just to keep up with the guide.

As for which region I tackle next, it's mostly personal preference. I like to work my way through an area, taking adjacent regions. This also means you won't be crisscrossing the map too much. However, I don't stick to that for too long, and sometimes I'll jump to the other side of the map to start clearing regions there. Again, it's just my preference, but I figure the further you go, the harder the game gets, and I like to keep the difficulty rising steadily.

Tips
  • The guide is structured to help you find what you need quickly.
  • Main story missions are at the end of each region's section.
  • Squads are earned through Chaos and are needed to unlock regions.
  • The guide generally progresses through regions requiring fewer squads first.
  • The path aims to minimize excessive back-and-forth travel across the map.

Operation Whiteout \| Casquillos Vacíos Reboot

Follow the pipes up the mountain in Just Cause 4's Operation Whiteout. Learn how to use tethers, grapple, and explosive tanks.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
After a brief cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically), head towards the first waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination). Turn around and to your left, you will find a shining weapon crate containing a CC10 Shotgun.
  2. 2
Continue towards the waypoint. You will encounter destructible objects like fuel tanks, radars, and explosive barrels.
  3. 3
Follow the large pipes going up the mountain.
  4. 4
When you reach the level with the helipad, you will find enemies. To the right of the enemies is a glowing green container with nine explosive tanks.
  5. 5
Shoot the tanks to launch them in the opposite direction, where they will explode after a second. Use this to your advantage against the enemies.
Tips
  • Red objects are usually destructible. Be aware that large destructible objects can explode multiple times, send debris flying, and leave flames. Small destructible objects like barrels may be near other explosives such as propane tanks.
  • Destructible objects will respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) and do not count towards completing locations in Just Cause 4.
  • To secure the 'Classic Hits' Achievement/Trophy, equip only the Retract grapple mod (Booster and Air Lifter mods cannot be active) and play for 15 non-consecutive minutes. It seems you only need to have the mod equipped, not actively use the tether for the full duration.
  • To tether objects together, hold the Left Bumper to fire the first tether point, aim at another object, and release the bumper. The objects will be drawn together. You can have up to 10 tethers active simultaneously. Hold Down on the D-Pad to release all tethers.
  • To grapple, tap the Left Bumper when near a surface. You will stick to it. Press Up on the Left Thumbstick or the A Button to hop up onto a surface if you are close enough to the top. You can grapple to the environment, vehicles, and enemies. A spinning white icon around your cursor indicates something is in grapple range.
  • To parachute, press A to jump off a ledge, then press A again to open your parachute. Push the Left Thumbstick forward to descend and gain speed, pull it back to ascend slightly and lose speed.
  • While parachuting, grappling a surface ahead of you will pull you to it, increasing your speed. Holding the Left Trigger while grappling a surface provides an additional speed boost. You can also press A to stow the parachute and land.
  • Fall damage exists, but you can negate it by grappling into the ground.
  • If you fall short of a waypoint, you can grapple up to it. Pulling your parachute while grappling will boost you upwards.
  • Combat Basics: Right Trigger shoots, Left Trigger activates fine aim, X Button reloads, holding X Button swaps weapons, Right Bumper uses alternate fire.
  • HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap): Weapon information is in the bottom left corner, showing magazine count, total ammo, weapon name, and alt fire ammo. Enemies drop weapons and ammo, indicated by floating indicators.
  • You can grapple into an enemy to knock them down temporarily. You can also tether enemies to the environment, objects, or each other. Tethered enemies take damage based on how far they are dragged.

Agency Distress Beacon \| Missions in Frontera

Complete guide to the Agency Distress Beacon mission and various Stunt challenges in Just Cause 4's Frontera region, including objectives, tips, and vehicle locations.

Walkthrough: Training - Special Delivery

  1. Start the mission and get into the Warrior Offroader.
  2. Wait for the two trainees to join you.
  3. Follow the objective arrows to a location with four supply boxes guarded by Black Hand.
  4. Destroy all four supply boxes.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 four more times, travelling to the Southern edge of Recalada.
Tips
  • You only need to destroy the supply boxes, not necessarily all Black Hand enemies.
  • Your trainees have high health and will engage enemies. Prioritize destroying supplies.
  • Be aware of Black Hand reinforcements; avoid getting bogged down in prolonged fights.
  • Honking the horn might cause trainees to stop fighting and re-enter the vehicle.
  • If the Warrior Offroader is destroyed, Black Hand will deliver more.
  • When picking up trainees, park on their side of the road to avoid civilian traffic chaos.
  • Use nitrous when driving between locations.
  • Honk the horn to make civilian vehicles pull over.
  • At the final location, focus on destroying supplies to end the mission, even if Black Hand are present.

Tributario Wanay - Speed Stunt

Objective: Pass through the ring faster than 160 km/h.

Notes: West of Vigía Frontera, on a bridge over the tributary. The ring is in the middle of the four-lane bridge, slightly off the ground. Use the bridge's incline to ramp into the air. A sports car with nitrous is recommended.

Tributario Wanay - Wingsuit Stunt

Objective: Wingsuit through all rings in less than 20 seconds.
