Check: The Difficulty Class (DC) for Animal Empathy depends on the creature. For animals and dire animals, the DC is 20 + the creature's Hit Dice (HD). For beasts and magical beasts, the DC is 24 + the creature's HD.

  • If the check succeeds, the creature is charmed.
  • If the check exceeds the DC by 6 or greater, the creature is dominated. Dominated creatures can be commanded as henchmen.
  • The creature will remain charmed or dominated for one round per level of the character using the skill.
  • Warning: If you fail your check by five or more, the creature will become hostile.
