Navigate Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Act 2 with this guide. Learn strategies for overcoming obstacles, using shields, and defeating the EggRobo's Laser Shooter Machine boss.
Walkthrough
- 1After the platform explodes, go right and use the hidden spring. Run through speed boosts and head up the pipes. Glide across the gap, pass a Ribot and an Orbinaut. Use the gravelling hook near the waterfall and hop across the platform. Run down the pipes and Spin Dash the yellow pipe to enter the water.
- 2Pass the Starpost to your left and head right. Watch out for 2 Ribots and an Orbinaut. After the waterfall, use the gravelling hook and jump right. Avoid the flame blaster and climb the wall. Destroy the switch and ride the cup down.
- 3When the flame blaster fires, leave the cup and grab the Water Shield. This shield is make-or-break for the underwater sections. Use speed boosts to go up pipes and Spin Dash through a yellow pipe to fill the area with water. Watch out for a Ribot when heading left; the Water Shield will protect you.
- 4When encountering an Orbinaut, which moves faster than Knuckles underwater, go left and Spin Dash right to proceed. A speed boost will trigger a wall, but its unlocking switch is nearby. Destroy the switch to go up and then right. Ride the cup and jump off.
- 5You won't be able to ride the next cup due to Knuckles' low jump, so break through the nearby wall. Spin Dash through the pipes and enter a yellow pipe to emerge beside a Starpost. Activate it and go right. After the speed boost, pass a Ribot and head right to battle two bosses.
Boss Battle: EggRobo's Laser Shooter Machine
- Weakness: The machines copy your movements. Focus on taking them out individually.
- Strategy: Each spike takes 3 hits to destroy. Patiently attack one machine at a time. Destroying 4 spikes in total (2 per machine) defeats the boss. Hitting the machines a total of 6 times wins the battle.
Tips
- The Water Shield is highly recommended for the underwater segments of Act 2.
- Be patient when dealing with the dual mini-bosses; focus on one at a time.
