Treasures are the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.

Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure and has representatives at Outposts to accept them.

Voyages are quests offered by Trading Companies that lead to treasure.

Random treasure can be found on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in barrels, or obtained from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.

Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from afar.

Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative for a payout. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while carrying treasure.

Harpoons can retrieve treasure from a distance.

Smaller treasures can be placed in Container Chests, which hold up to 3 items and can hide their glow.

Treasure left on land remains until interacted with, but treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes (except Trade Good Crates).

Picking up relevant treasure as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation.

Tips

Treasure Chests are sold to the Gold Hoarders, who have keys to open them. They can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, Ancient Vaults, or randomly. They emit a white glint.
Types of Treasure Chests include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed. Ashen chests are found in The Devil's Roar and are more valuable.
Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults. They emit a golden glint.
